HUGH’S VIEWS

***

We are beginning two sections of a Bible study called “Islam and Christianity” and way the authors of the resources chose to frame the discussion is fascinating – two (fictional) Islamic adults, one male and one female, raise important theological questions they have about Christianity. The questions are pointed but fair and also show a limited understanding of the Christian faith. Or more precisely, their understanding comes from what they have heard about Christianity.

Well, the same is probably true for us, as well, when it comes to our – um – understanding of the Islamic faith.

We have eight people signed up to learn more about their own faith, including basic beliefs like the trinity (the first doctrine we address and explain), and the biblical background it has, while also learning some essential facts about what it means to be Muslim. We hope a little education goes a long way.

Those sections are meeting on Sunday mornings, one during the Open Hour (9:00 to 9:45 am) and after second service (11:05 am), both in the MacNeill Room. We are just starting so if you want to come along for the journey, then feel welcome to join in right away.
